The GenGapsDiGi Hackathon was held on April 26, designed specifically for high school students from Bulgaria, who have interests in the field of Information and Communication Technologies and want to pursue a career in the sector! The event was held in a fully digital environment through the Zoom platform, as 7 teams of students sought a solution to a specially prepared case on the topic – “Raising awareness of opportunities for professional development and training of girls in the IT sector.”

The teams of high school students successfully applied their ICT skills, using various tools and platforms widespread in the sector, and the competition was extremely practical, focusing more on doing than on theoretical training.

At the very end of the Hackathon, each team presented its idea to a specially selected jury of specialists and university professors in the sector, as the grand prize “Trip to Cyprus and participation in the “Girls in technology” conference” was won by the “Golden Girls” Team, FES “Vasil Levski”, from town of Montana, Bulgaria!

The GenGapsDiGi project aims to provide opportunities to enhance digital skills, promote entrepreneurship in young people and increase their confidence, with a positive impact on reducing gender differences in career choices.
